Pinball

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

What we're looking for:

PINBALL publishes short fiction, art, essays, and interviews. Emphasizing the diverse, forward-thinking, and constantly evolving literary landscape, PINBALL aims to promote work that’s both high caliber and accessible—work that speaks not only to other writers and artists, but to the wider community of readers.

In search of that wider community, PINBALL seeks to include genre-inspired and literary fiction, as well as non-fiction essays and comics, into the literary conversation, allowing for permeability and mutation of prose into new territories.

Issues published three times a year: roughly February 15, close to June 15, and somewhere around October 15.

Nuts and bolts:

We accept electronic submissions only, and we accept submissions only through Submittable. No e-mail submissions, please. We accept simultaneous submissions, but let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere.

We do not accept previously published work, including work published on blogs or forums. Send only one piece at a time, unless the genre category indicated otherwise, and please wait one month to submit more work, unless we ask for more. Multiple submissions beyond the first will be rejected. By submitting, you also will be placed on our mailing list. We won't sell or abuse your contact information.

Please, check the word count limit for your genre. Any submission over that limit will be returned unread.

Payment: $25 story/essay, $15 flash or micro story or essay. Please query for comics. We ask for first printing rights in online, ebook, and/or print venues, as well as promotional rights upon publication.
